
Markku Jalkanen, Chairman
Professor Markku Jalkanen is the pioneer of Finland's private biotech business and is the founder and former CEO of the only public biotech company, Biotie Therapies Corp., in Finland. He has also held several interim CEO, Board and Advisor positions in Finnish life science companies and related public organizations. Markku has a strong international science background with more than 130 peer reviewed publications. Currently Markku serves as the CEO of Faron Pharmaceuticals Ltd and as an advisor to Inveni Capital Ltd. Markku holds a PhD in Medical Biochemistry from University of Turku, Finland.
Jari Koistinaho
Professor Jari Koistinaho, one of the scientific founders of Medeia, is an internationally recognized neuroscientist having contributed to many breakthrough inventions in the field of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. He has spent several years in the US as a visiting Professor in Stanford University, Dept of Neurosurgery and IUPUI, Dept of Neurology. He previously directed BioCenter Kuopio, Finland and has served as the Dean of A.I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences. Jari has held several Board positions in Finnish biotech companies. He currently leads Molecular Brain Research group at A.I. Virtanen Institute. Jari earned his M.D. and PhD degrees at University of Tampere, Finland.
Aki Prihti
Aki Prihti serves as a founding partner at Inveni Capital Ltd. Aki’s experience covers all aspects of private equity work. For the last ten years, Aki has worked with life science venture investments in the Nordic area and before that in Salomon Smith Barney’s corporate finance arm in London. Aki has strong experience in taking life science companies through different phases of development. Aki, M.Sc in Economy, is a graduate of Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.
Kalevi Reijonen
Kalevi Reijonen is the President and CEO of FIT Biotech Plc. Kalevi has over 30 years of top-level management experience in the international pharmaceutical and biotech industry with a strong and diverse background in sales, marketing, business development and licensing operations. He has led several due diligence processes for pharmaceutical partnership and M&A ventures. Kalevi has been on Medeia’s Board since the establishment of the company. Kalevi holds an M.D. degree from University of Helsinki.
Matti Vaheri
Matti Vaheri, recently retired from Orion Corp having served the company for more than 29 years, has a broad experience in different top management positions. He has served as the CEO of Orion Diagnostica and more recently as the Director of Strategic Alliances and Director of CNS Business Unit with global sales exceeding c.a 500 Mio EUR. In addition, Matti is the co-founder and chair of a Finnish med tech company Onbone Ltd. Matti holds Lic Sc degree from Helsinki University of Technology.
